How many major companies actually make use of a dedicated server expecially for them as oppose to sharing one with other companies and even the general public. I am trying to work out the specific costs of putting together a special server Hosting Dedicated primarilly for my company. In the long run is it worth it? I mean what are the actual benefits other than some added control? I know that I am wanting to run quite a hefty network from is so perhaps that will affect it. But on the grand scheme of things is it needed?
Can I still have say...an internal intranet if I don;t have my own server built in. Or what about running something like Lotus Webmail, is it possible to run that without using your own hosting service?
